Rabbits and Guinea pigs :-
Usually kept outdoors or in a garden shed.
Make sure the hutch is dry and weatherproof and not in an exposed position to wind and rain.
Your pet will need exercise in a run attached to the hutch or in your garden, if there is a paved area this will help keep your pets claws short, if your pet is only on soft ground his claws may require trimming. A good mixed grain food, fresh grass, hay and vegetables are required as a healthy diet.
Fresh water should always be available and in winter make sure the water is checked regularly as it may freeze.
If purchased in the winter months your pet will need to be kept in a shed until the weather warms up, it may not have it’s winter coat and may catch cold if you put it outdoors straight away.
Dogs and Cats
Require a good healthy diet and clean drinking water at all times.
A nice cosy bed or basket of their own will make them more comfortable and give them added security.
They will enjoy playing with toys, this will help keep them busy when your not there and stop them getting bored.
They need to be groomed weekly if possible to keep their coat healthy, as you groom your pet you can check the condition of skin and coat and look for any uninvited guests on your pet, ( fleas, ticks, mites, ) and treat accordingly.
It is also advisable to worm your pets at regular intervals to keep them clear of internal worms.
Cats should be provided with a scratching post to keep their claws in good condition and help stop them scratching the furniture.
A Kong stuffed with tasty treats and foodstuffs help to prevent behavioural problems by turning a safe toy into a stimulating and complex food dispenser.
Other Kong toys available.
